50 Citations of Naidu and Ranjeeni (2021) COVID 19 Research: Australian Investors Underreacted to Coronavirus Fear.

Pleased to share a milestone achievement for my research paper co-authored with Dr Dharmendra Naidu. Thank you, God, for everything. Thank you to Pacific Basin Finance Journal for publishing our research and to the researchers for citing our research.

Our research paper reached 50 citations!!! Congratulations Dr Dharmendra Naidu.

I still remember our online research presentation while we were workshopping our research paper during COVID-19 Lockdowns. Also, I served as Session Chair and Discussant in the international conference. I appreciate my learnings and am happy to contribute to our community through research and engagements.

Our research is entitled “Effect of coronavirus fear on the performance of Australian stock returns: Evidence from an event study”. Our research is published in 2021 in Pacific Basin Finance journal (ranked as A as per ABDC journal ranking). Below, I reproduce the Highlights of our Research.

Highlights from Naidu and Ranjeeni (2021):

  • Australian investors underreacted to coronavirus fear.

  • Investor underreaction was prevalent across most sectors and firm size categories.

  • Short sale trading strategy may have benefited investors.

  • Health care sector and smallest firms were most adversely affected.

  • Stock return reversals mostly occur after the first stimulus payment in Australia.
