I am pleased to share that research papers have been published in reputed academic journals including two publications in Financial Times 50 journal, namely, The Accounting Review and Journal of Business Ethics. Research papers promote the importance of Ethics, Knowledge, Quality and Board Gender Diversity. Three of these research papers are open access. Therefore, you can access them and read for free! 

 

These research papers focus on themes such as Quality Accounting Information, Female Directors Add Value, Challenges of Woman in Leadership, Corporate Governance and Firm Performance. Financial Reporting Quality matters in Supply Contracting!

Customers’ financial reporting quality influences suppliers’ decisions to contract with them for the future supply of goods and services (Naidu and Ranjeeni 2024).

Female Directors Matter!

Female directors foster ethical redaction of confidential information to protect a firm's competitive edge, Although this results in short term pain (adverse selection cost", firm benefits in the long term via shareholder wealth maximization (Naidu and Ranjeeni 2023a).

Outside Directors Firm-Specific Knowledge Matters during Crisis!

"Our research is the first to show how prior social interactions between outside directors and inside directors over their tenure positively contributed to firm performance during the COVID-19 crisis", (Naidu and Ranjeeni 2023b).

This paper was led by Dr Dharmendra Naidu. He started working in the area of corporate governance during his Master's by research studies at The University of the South Pacific (USP). Dr Kumari Ranjeeni worked in the area of investors reaction to global financial crisis during her Master's by research studies at USP.  As such, both researchers collaborated on this research project.

Summary 

In sum, our research highlights the following:


1. Importance of financial reporting quality in supply contracting decisions (Naidu and Ranjeeni, 2024).

 

2. Importance of having woman on corporate boards as an antecedent for ethical redaction of proprietary information (Naidu and Ranjeeni, 2023a).


3. Female directors are being undervalued due to gender role stereotype. More societal awareness on the benefits of woman on corporate boards is required to address detrimental stereotyping of female directors! (Ranjeeni and Naidu, 2024).

4. Importance of Outside directors' firm specific knowledge during a crisis (Naidu and Ranjeeni, 2023b).
